libtesseract-dev software package provides Development files for the tesseract command line OCR tool, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libtesseract-dev
libtesseract-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libtesseract-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libtesseract-dev *
You will get with libtesseract-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
